Birthstones have been used since at least the first century as a way to give the wearer good luck. Different gemstones are associated with each month of the year, and each stone from January's Garnet to December's Blue Topaz, has special qualities associated with it, often based upon folklore and legend. Wearing a piece of jewellery that features a birthstone means wearing a piece of jewellery that is unique and meaningful to the wearer.
